I came in to get my hand checked, injured from playing basketball. The doctor said that I may need surgery and he recommended me to a hand surgeon who should be calling me soon. The next day I got a call from a therapist wanting to schedule therapy for my FOOT! They said that was what emergency MD told them. I went back to the clinic after a week and told them that I still have not heard back from the hand surgeon. They said they're sorry, and that was it. Sadly, no actions were done. My fear is that my hand is about to heal and it will heal the wrong way because I never got the surgery I needed. I paid almost $300 to Emergency MD for nothing basically. My hand is still injured. I cannot get surgery without doctor referals. I'm forced to do the same check and pay the same amount at another clinic. I hope my experience with this clinic is unique and that other patients would not share the same bad experience.
Medical service was great.
My issue is with billing.Visited on March 15th and prepaid estimated costs. When insurance was processed, insurance paid Emergency MD 100% of allowable costs, which I already paid. So, I’m due a refund and have been trying to contact billing. Keep being told someone will call me back. No call back yet, after multiple calls over multiple weeks.
I am a gap year student at EMD, and despite only being here for a few weeks so far I have already learned so much about medicine, insurance, and patient care. I’m confident that this experience will prepare me for medical school and make me a better physician and person!
